Email Marketing: An Effective Promotional Tool

Sending an email or e-newsletter out to your existing and potential clients remains to be a very valuable tool in your marketing endeavors.

Just as it is important to keep your website current and updated, your emails need to be mobile-friendly and visually pleasing. They are meant to drive the recipients to visit your website to make a purchase or learn more about what your business offers.

An article posted by eMarketer in February of 2015 stated that “72% of US internet users opened and read promotional emails from retailers”, according to information provided to them by Listrak.

An earlier eMarketer survey had found that almost 70% of internet users that responded said that email is their preferred method of communication with a business.

A professional email newsletter can help fulfill a multitude of marketing objectives while keeping the audience informed and entertained.

Something as simple as a monthly email newsletter can help introduce new team members, products, or services. They can also be used to announce events, offers, promotions, and accolades.

Your marketing efforts increase in strength when you integrate your newsletter with links to your website’s newest blog posts, articles, and other newly added pages. You can include links to your social media accounts within your email to entice readers to click on them as well.

Before attempting your own email campaign, there are several important things you must know.

Never try to use your own email to send a mass email out to your contacts – even if you blind carbon copy them. Sending an email to too many recipients at one time could get your email account flagged as a spammer or potentially shut down your domain based email.

We can help! There are several great small business email marketing platform options that we can employ and we can help you prepare professional newsletters. We also offer comprehensive copywriting services that can further enhance your newsletters, website content, and blog posts.

Familiarize yourself with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 16, 2003, establishes the United States’ first national standards for the sending of commercial e-mail and requires the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to enforce its provisions.

The CAN-SPAM Act governs all commercial email messages – defined by the law as “any electronic mail message the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service” – this includes emailed newsletters used to promote content on a business website.

Fines can reach upwards of $16,000 for each and every separate email found to be in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act. The law also states that although you have hired an outside company to assist you with an email marketing campaign, it still remains your legal responsibility to comply with the law as the owner of the product or service promoted in the email – and as the originator of the message. However, maintaining compliance within the law can be easily managed by a company who can help you meet the requirements – such as GINGALLEY.

We help our clients who use our services to stay within the law while promoting a positive branding image online and in print.
